Dermalux LED Light Therapy

Dermalux LED Phototherapy is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses clinically researched wavelengths of light to stimulate and regulate natural cellular processes within the skin. Unlike laser or IPL, Dermalux does not use ultraviolet light, does not remove or damage the surface of the skin and is designed to deliver treatment without expected downtime.

At Asthetik London, Dermalux LED Light Therapy can be enjoyed as a standalone skin treatment to improve overall skin health and radiance or incorporated as a treatment add-on alongside selected aesthetic and skin procedures to help calm the skin and support its natural repair and recovery processes.

Our Dermalux Flex LED Light allows flexibility to treat almost all areas of the face as well as body areas such as problematic knees, or lower back pain.  Whilst clinical data shows positive results it is important to note that this does not replace physio or medical forms of rehabilitation, but are complementary to.  Often multiple sessions are required over a continual regular period of time.

Our Dermalux LED Treatments

Dermalux LED Light Therapy – Standalone Treatment

A relaxing LED Phototherapy treatment tailored to your individual skin concerns.

Standalone Dermalux sessions are ideal for clients wanting to support overall skin health, improve radiance, calm redness and sensitivity, manage blemish-prone skin or support the visible signs of ageing without needles, heat or downtime.

For ongoing skin concerns, we may recommend a course of Dermalux treatments. Dermalux advises that a course of approximately 8–12 sessions is generally recommended for many indications, although the number and frequency of treatments will depend on your individual skin, treatment goals and the protocol selected.

Dermalux LED Light Therapy – Treatment Add-On

Dermalux can also be added to selected Asthetik London treatments to complement the procedure and support the skin during the post-treatment recovery period.

Following certain professional treatments, the skin naturally begins a repair and regeneration process. Appropriately selected Dermalux wavelengths can be used to support tissue repair, help modulate inflammation and calm temporary redness while enhancing the overall skin-treatment experience. Dermalux confirms that LED Phototherapy can be combined with many professional procedures where the appropriate protocol is followed.

It can therefore make an excellent addition to selected treatments such as:

The suitability and timing of LED following another procedure will always be determined by your practitioner according to your treatment, skin condition and individual circumstances.

Frequently asked questions

Dermalux LED Phototherapy is a non-invasive treatment using specific wavelengths of visible and Near Infrared light to stimulate and regulate cellular processes within the skin.

The treatment can be used to support a range of cosmetic skin concerns including visible signs of ageing, blemish-prone skin, redness, sensitivity, pigmentation and general skin health. The precise wavelength and treatment protocol used will depend on the individual skin concern being treated.

Dermalux LED Phototherapy is an extremely versatile treatment and may be incorporated into programmes addressing:

  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • Fine lines and visible signs of ageing
  • Loss of radiance
  • Acne and blemish-prone skin
  • Redness
  • Sensitive or reactive skin
  • Inflammation
  • Uneven-looking pigmentation
  • Skin recovery and repair
    General skin-health maintenance

The indications appropriate for each client depend on the Dermalux device, wavelength, treatment protocol and individual skin assessment.

The different wavelengths of Dermalux LED light are absorbed within the skin in different ways.

  • Blue 415nm primarily targets acne-related bacterial activity and is commonly used for blemish-prone skin.
  • Red 633nm supports collagen production and skin rejuvenation and is commonly incorporated into treatments addressing visible signs of ageing.
  • Near Infrared 830nm penetrates more deeply and supports inflammation modulation, tissue repair and recovery.

Your practitioner will determine the most suitable wavelength or treatment protocol for your individual skin.

Yes. Dermalux makes an excellent standalone treatment, particularly for clients wanting healthier, brighter and calmer-looking skin without an invasive procedure or downtime.

A single session can provide a useful skin boost, while a course of treatments may be recommended where we are targeting a specific ongoing skin concern.

Yes. One of the major advantages of Dermalux is its versatility as a combination treatment.

It can be incorporated alongside many professional skin procedures to support recovery, calm inflammation and complement the overall treatment outcome. The correct Dermalux protocol and timing will depend on the procedure being performed and your individual skin.

At Asthetik London, we particularly like Dermalux as an addition to selected skin rejuvenation treatments where calming and supporting the skin’s natural repair processes forms an important part of the overall treatment plan.

Dermalux LED Phototherapy can be a particularly useful complement to professional treatments that initiate a controlled skin-repair response.

Following SkinPen microneedling, an appropriate Dermalux protocol may be used to support the skin’s recovery process and calm temporary post-treatment redness and inflammation. Whether LED is appropriate immediately following treatment will be determined by your practitioner and the treatment protocol being followed.

Dermalux may be used in combination with selected professional chemical peels where the appropriate treatment protocol is followed. Dermalux’s professional guidance states that peels may be performed before LED treatment where the peel has been appropriately neutralised.

The treatment can provide a relaxing conclusion to the procedure while helping to support and calm the skin.

No. Dermalux is generally a very comfortable treatment and many clients find the experience extremely relaxing.

You simply lie comfortably underneath the LED treatment head while the selected wavelength or combination of wavelengths is delivered. Some clients notice a gentle feeling of warmth during treatment, but Dermalux LED Phototherapy is a non-thermal treatment when used correctly.

A typical Dermalux LED Phototherapy treatment takes approximately 20–30 minutes, although treatment times can vary according to the Dermalux device, treatment area and protocol selected.

When Dermalux is booked as an add-on, this time will be added to your primary treatment appointment.

There is normally no expected downtime following Dermalux LED Phototherapy and clients can usually return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.

For this reason, Dermalux is an excellent option before an event, during a lunch break or as part of a regular skin-maintenance programme.

If Dermalux has been used alongside another treatment, however, the downtime and aftercare associated with that primary treatment will still apply.

Some clients notice that their skin appears fresher, calmer and more radiant following treatment. However, LED Phototherapy works by supporting biological processes within the skin and improvements can therefore develop progressively.

Where we are treating a specific skin concern, a course of treatments is normally more beneficial than relying on a single session. Dermalux states that 8–12 sessions are generally recommended for many indications, followed by ongoing treatments where appropriate to help maintain results.

The recommended frequency depends on your skin concern, the Dermalux protocol being used and whether treatment is being performed as a standalone therapy or alongside another procedure.

For clients undergoing a corrective course, treatments may initially be performed more regularly before moving onto maintenance sessions. Your practitioner will recommend an appropriate programme following consultation.

Yes. Dermalux states that LED Phototherapy is suitable for all skin tones when used correctly and in accordance with the appropriate treatment protocols.

This makes LED particularly useful as part of a comprehensive skin programme where some other light-based technologies may require greater consideration according to skin tone.

No. Dermalux does not use ultraviolet light.

The system uses selected wavelengths within the visible and Near Infrared spectrum. It therefore does not tan the skin and does not stimulate Vitamin D production, both of which require ultraviolet wavelengths.

Yes. Dermalux is ideally performed on clean skin.

Before treatment the skin should be free from make-up, SPF, oils, heavy creams and other residues that could interfere with the penetration of light. Appropriate skincare can then be applied following your treatment.

Certain lightweight products may be suitable, but not all skincare ingredients should be applied before LED treatment.

Dermalux recommends clean skin and advises that some water-based products containing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, beta glucan and niacinamide may be suitable under professional guidance. Ingredients that may create a barrier to the light or increase sensitivity may need to be avoided during treatment.

At Asthetik London, your practitioner will prepare your skin appropriately according to the Dermalux protocol being performed.

Dermalux has a high safety profile when used according to the manufacturer’s treatment protocols and contraindications.

Some clients may experience temporary warmth, mild redness, flushing or tingling following treatment, which generally settles quickly. Rare temporary headaches and photosensitive reactions have also been reported. Pigmentation changes can occur in susceptible individuals, particularly if treatment protocols are not correctly followed.

A consultation and assessment of your medical history, medications and potential photosensitivity will therefore be carried out before treatment.

Dermalux may not be appropriate for people with certain photosensitivity disorders, light-triggered epilepsy, some autoimmune or metabolic conditions, active cancer or those taking certain photosensitising medications.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding also require particular consideration, as Dermalux advises that potential risks have not been fully established.

We will assess your medical history, medication and treatment suitability before proceeding. Where there is any uncertainty, appropriate medical advice may be required.

Yes. Appropriate eye protection supplied for the Dermalux system should be worn during treatment.

Once you are comfortable, you can simply relax while the LED treatment is performed.

Good skin is rarely achieved with one single treatment. Dermalux can be incorporated into a personalised programme alongside professional skin treatments, medical-grade skincare and regular maintenance.

Its ability to support skin rejuvenation, inflammation management and recovery without expected downtime makes it particularly useful between more intensive treatments, as a regular skin-health treatment or as an add-on when additional calming and recovery support is beneficial.

At Asthetik London we will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and create an individual treatment plan designed around the health, condition and appearance of your skin.
