What it is

Dynamic lines appear with facial movement; static lines remain visible at rest. Fine lines, deeper folds and creases can have different causes.

Common influences

Repeated facial movement, collagen and elastin loss, sun exposure, genetics, smoking, skin dehydration, volume change and natural ageing.

Who it affects

Lines develop differently in every adult, regardless of gender or skin tone. Treatment is optional and should reflect individual priorities rather than age alone.

How we manage it

A facial assessment followed by anti-wrinkle injections, selected dermal fillers, Profhilo and skin-quality treatments, used individually or in a staged plan.

Understanding Lines & Wrinkles

Dynamic lines form when facial muscles repeatedly contract, including frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. Over time, some remain visible when the face is at rest. Static lines can also reflect sun damage, declining collagen and elasticity, skin dryness, volume loss and changes in facial support.

One treatment cannot address every line. Muscle-relaxing treatment is best suited to selected expression lines, filler may support a fold or structural deficit, and Profhilo or resurfacing treatments focus more on skin quality. A natural result preserves expression and treats the cause rather than attempting to remove every line.

How We Treat Lines & Wrinkles

Your plan is based on whether lines are dynamic or static, their location and depth, facial movement, skin quality, volume and support, medical history, previous treatment and your priorities. Options may be combined, but only when each has a clear purpose.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Prescription botulinum toxin can temporarily reduce the activity of selected facial muscles, softening expression lines while aiming to retain natural movement. It is commonly considered for frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet, but suitability and dosing are individual. A face-to-face prescribing assessment is required before treatment.

Dermal Fillers

Selected hyaluronic acid fillers may soften a deeper fold or restore support where volume change contributes to a crease. Filler is not the correct treatment for every line and is used conservatively to avoid heaviness or distortion. Product, placement and amount are selected for the anatomy and treatment goal.

Skin Booster

Skin Boosters are injectable treatments used to support hydration, firmness and overall skin quality. They are not a muscle-relaxing treatment or conventional contouring filler, so they will not directly stop expression lines or fill a specific crease. Stimulation of collagen and elastin fibres help fine, crepey lines associated with reduced elasticity and hydration.

Skinpen Microneedling & other Skin rejuvenation treatments

Selected superficial peels, microneedling, laser-based rejuvenation, Medical Grade LED and a consistent medical skincare routine may improve texture and fine lines by supporting skin renewal or collagen remodelling. Suitability depends on skin tone, sensitivity, sun exposure, downtime and current products or medicines.

Doctor-Led

A structured assessment considers movement, anatomy, skin quality, volume, medical history and previous treatment before recommending any injectable or procedure.

Safety & Ethics

Prescription treatment follows an appropriate prescriber assessment. We use conservative plans, explain alternatives and will not treat when benefit is limited or risk is disproportionate.

Personalised Care

Expression lines, static creases and fine textural lines need different approaches. Recommendations are based on the cause rather than a one-product solution.

Experience

Established clinical experience, careful treatment selection and transparent advice from consultation through aftercare.

Results

Results depend on the line type, treatment and individual response. Anti-wrinkle treatment develops gradually, fillers may show an immediate change before swelling settles, and skin-quality treatments improve progressively. Results are temporary, complete removal of lines is not guaranteed, and maintenance is optional.

Pricing

Treatment is personalised, so cost depends on the concern, areas treated, product amount and whether a staged plan is advised.

Indicative price From £250
Your consultation includes Assessment of your concerns and skin history, discussion of suitable options, expected outcomes, risks, aftercare and a personalised plan.

Frequently asked questions

Dynamic lines appear during facial movement, such as frowning or smiling. Static lines remain visible when the face is relaxed and may reflect repeated movement, skin ageing, sun exposure or volume change. Anti-wrinkle injections mainly address selected dynamic lines; static lines may need a combined or skin-quality approach.

The aim is to soften selected muscle activity while retaining natural expression. Dose, placement and individual muscle strength influence the result. A conservative plan can reduce the risk of an overly restricted look, but temporary asymmetry or unwanted weakness remains possible.

Longevity varies by treatment, area, dose, product and individual response. Botulinum toxin effects and injectable or resurfacing results are temporary. We will explain the expected timing for the exact treatment recommended rather than giving one duration for every option.

All procedures carry risk. Botulinum toxin may cause bruising, headache, asymmetry or temporary eyelid or brow droop; very rarely its effect can spread beyond the injection site and cause serious symptoms. Fillers can cause swelling, infection, lumps and rare vascular complications including skin injury or visual loss. Procedure-specific risks and warning signs are discussed before consent.

No treatment can guarantee completely line-free skin. The goal is usually softer lines, improved skin quality and a refreshed appearance that still looks natural. Deep static creases may improve without disappearing, and combination treatment may offer more balanced results than repeated treatment with one product.
