What is a Croma PolyPhil™ Polynucleotide treatment?

Croma PolyPhil™ Polynucleotides are an advanced injectable skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve the quality, texture, hydration and elasticity of the skin without adding unwanted volume or changing your natural facial features.

Formerly known as PhilArt, the PolyPhil™ range uses highly purified polynucleotides known as PN-HPT® technology. When introduced into the skin, polynucleotides help create an environment that supports fibroblast activity and the natural production of collagen and elastin. They also bind water within the tissues, supporting hydration and helping the skin appear smoother, fresher and more radiant.

Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which are primarily used to restore volume or alter facial contours, PolyPhil™ focuses on improving the condition and quality of the skin itself. This makes it particularly suitable for patients who want natural-looking rejuvenation without significantly changing their appearance.

Treatment can be used to address concerns including fine lines, crepey skin, reduced elasticity, loss of firmness, dehydration, dullness and signs of ageing or photoageing. Depending on the particular PolyPhil™ product selected, treatment may be suitable for the face, delicate eye area, neck, décolletage and other areas requiring skin rejuvenation.

At Asthetik London, your treatment will begin with a detailed consultation to assess your skin, discuss your concerns and determine whether PolyPhil™ is appropriate for you. A personalised treatment programme can then be created according to your individual skin requirements.

How Do Croma PolyPhil™ Polynucleotides Work?

Polynucleotides are long-chain molecules that are injected superficially into the skin to support its natural regenerative processes.

Croma states that its polynucleotides help stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, while also supporting the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Together, these effects can help improve skin elasticity, texture, hydration and overall appearance.

Rather than producing the immediate volumising effect associated with dermal fillers, PolyPhil™ works progressively. As the skin responds to treatment, patients may notice gradual improvements in skin quality, firmness and radiance.

The aim is not to change the shape of the face, but to help the skin look healthier, smoother, firmer and refreshed.

What Can PolyPhil™ Polynucleotides Treat?

PolyPhil™ may be recommended for patients concerned about:

  • Fine lines and early signs of ageing
  • Crepey or thinning skin
  • Loss of skin firmness
  • Reduced elasticity
  • Dehydrated or dull-looking skin
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Sun-damaged or photoaged skin
  • Areas requiring overall skin revitalisation
  • Certain scars, where clinically appropriate

The Croma PolyPhil™ Range

Frequently asked questions

PolyPhil™ is Croma Pharma’s range of injectable polynucleotide treatments, previously known as PhilArt. The treatments are designed to improve skin quality by supporting collagen and elastin production, hydration and skin regeneration rather than primarily adding volume to the face.

Dermal fillers are generally used to replace volume, enhance facial contours or support specific facial structures.

Polynucleotides take a different approach. Their primary aim is to improve the quality and condition of the skin, supporting hydration, elasticity and regenerative processes rather than creating significant volume or reshaping facial features.

Once injected into the skin, polynucleotides support processes associated with collagen and elastin production and help the skin retain moisture. The result is a gradual improvement in hydration, texture and elasticity rather than the immediate structural change associated with a dermal filler.

PolyPhil™ is not designed to produce the same volumising or contouring effect as a traditional dermal filler.

The objective is generally to improve the quality, hydration and elasticity of your existing skin, making it an attractive option for patients looking for subtle and natural-looking rejuvenation.

Croma recommends a minimum course of three treatments, generally administered at intervals of approximately two to four weeks, although the exact number and spacing of treatments should be determined by your practitioner according to your skin and treatment objectives.

Following your consultation at Asthetik London, we will recommend a personalised treatment programme.

PolyPhil™ is a regenerative treatment and results develop progressively rather than producing an immediate filler-like transformation.

As skin quality responds following your treatment course, improvements may become noticeable in hydration, texture, firmness and radiance. Individual results and the speed at which they develop will vary.

Results vary considerably between individuals.

Factors including age, lifestyle, physical activity, UV exposure and skincare maintenance can influence how long the effects are maintained. Croma recommends repeat treatment where appropriate to maintain results, with the frequency determined on an individual basis by your practitioner.

PolyPhil™ is an injectable treatment, so temporary effects at the injection sites can occur following treatment.

Your practitioner will discuss what to expect and provide detailed aftercare instructions. Croma recommends allowing the skin to rest following treatment and avoiding strong UV exposure and extreme temperatures during the early post-treatment period.

Croma advises that makeup can usually be resumed after approximately one day, although your practitioner will provide personalised instructions depending upon your treatment and how your skin responds.

Yes. Polynucleotides can form part of a broader medically supervised skin rejuvenation programme.

Croma states that its polynucleotides may be incorporated into combination treatment plans before or after other aesthetic or surgical procedures when considered appropriate by the treating practitioner. PolyPhil™ has also been discussed as a complementary treatment alongside procedures such as laser, microneedling and chemical peels.

The timing and sequence of combination treatments is important and will be planned for you following consultation.

PolyPhil™ will not be suitable for every patient, which is why a consultation and medical history are essential.

According to Croma’s UK patient information, contraindications include pregnancy or breastfeeding, being under 18, certain infections or inflammatory conditions, autoimmune disease and hypersensitivity to components of the product. Croma also states that fish-derived polynucleotides are contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to fish products.

Your practitioner will assess your medical history and suitability before proceeding.

Yes. Polynucleotide treatment is suitable for both men and women seeking an improvement in skin quality without necessarily wanting to change their facial proportions or add volume.

Treatment is individually tailored according to the condition of the skin rather than gender.

PolyPhil™ is frequently described as a biostimulatory injectable or skin booster, although its mechanism and composition differ from conventional hyaluronic-acid-only skin boosters.

Its role is centred around skin revitalisation, hydration and improvement in texture and elasticity.

PolyPhil™ is administered using a series of small injections. Croma describes the treatment as minimally invasive and reports that it is generally well tolerated.

Individual sensitivity varies, and we will discuss comfort measures with you before treatment.

PolyPhil™ can be particularly appealing for patients who want to improve their skin rather than change their face.

By concentrating on skin hydration, elasticity, texture and regenerative processes, treatment can provide a gradual and natural-looking improvement while maintaining your individual facial characteristics.
